Manipur BJP slams Cong over assembly dissolution call

Imphal: Manipur unit of BJP has strongly criticised Congress party for demanding the dissolution of the state legislative assembly, accusing it of being driven by a hunger for power while the state continues to recover from unrest.BJP questioned whether Congress would take responsibility if fresh elections cannot be conducted on time following the assembly’s dissolution.Addressing the media at the BJP office, Thambal Sanglen, in Imphal on Friday, party spokesperson and MLA Kh Ibomcha said Congress’s demand reflects political ambition rather than concern for the people.He recalled that President’s Rule was imposed in Manipur on Feb 13 under Article 356 of the Constitution, following a breakdown in law and order after violence erupted on May 3, 2023.
