India’s double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker claimed the bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event at the Asian Shooting Championship on Tuesday. Bhaker registered a score of 219.7 in the eight-shooter final to secure third place.
The gold went to China’s Ma Qianke with 243.2, while South Korea’s Yang Ji-in settled for silver at 241.6. The 23-year-old Indian shooter advanced to the final after finishing third in the qualification round with 583 points. Korea’s Oh Yejin topped the qualification with 585 but was competing for ranking points only, which allowed China’s Yao Qianxun to enter the final as the top-ranked shooter. Among other Indian participants, Esha Singh (competing for ranking points) was placed ninth with 577, Suruchi Singh finished 12th with 574, Palak took 17th spot with 573, and Surbhi Rao (RPO) was 25th with 570. In the team event, the trio of Bhaker, Suruchi Singh and Palak combined for a total of 1730 points, earning India another bronze medal.
