Panaji: Goa police on Tuesday arrested two Bangladesh nationals from Bengaluru in connection with the alleged dacoity at Dr Mahendra Ghanekar’s residence at Mapusa.Around six armed, burqa-clad individuals stole approximately Rs 35 lakh in cash and valuables and held the Ghanekar family hostage on Oct 7, following a meticulously planned escape route.SP North Rahul Gupta said that after scrutinising the information available, it was found that 27-year-old Raju B and 37-year-old Safikul Rohul Amir, both residents of Bengaluru, were connected to the main accused who committed the dacoity. “Evidence on record shows that they conspired with the six main accused who committed this heinous act. Hence, both were placed under arrest this evening,” Gupta said.The crime was committed at the house of Ghanekar in the town’s densely populated Ganeshpuri residential area between 3am and 5am.The family members — the doctor, his wife, his mother, and another relative — were tied using bedsheets and a sari and then gagged using pillow covers.
