A 35-year-old woman was brutally stabbed to death by her lover in Bengaluru’s Pillanna Garden area on Friday night. The accused, identified as 50-year-old Ambedkar alias Kutti, was arrested by the police within hours of the crime.
According to investigators, the victim, Renuka, a domestic worker and divorcee, had been in a relationship with Ambedkar, who runs a small printing press in the city and is already married. Their relationship had recently turned turbulent after Renuka allegedly began distancing herself from him.
On Friday evening, around 9:30 pm, Renuka was walking near the BBMP High School in Pillanna Garden when Ambedkar confronted her. Eyewitnesses told police that a heated argument broke out between the two before Ambedkar suddenly pulled out a knife and attacked her. He stabbed her multiple times on her chest, abdomen, and hands, leaving her bleeding on the road before fleeing the scene.
Residents alerted the police, who rushed her to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her dead. Preliminary reports suggest she sustained at least eight stab injuries.
The police have nabbed the accused and have seized a knife from him.
