'Mass Jathara': Early trends hint at slow start for Ravi Teja's mass entertainer ahead of release

Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja is gearing up for the release of his upcoming action entertainer 'Mass Jathara'. After facing a downhill road with a couple of his previous outings, the film is touted to be a crucial test for the actor's box office pull.

However, early trends indicate that the film might not be able to secure strong opening numbers.

Underwhelming advance bookings

According to data from Sacnilk, 'Mass Jathara' has managed to collect only around Rs 61 lakh in advance bookings for its opening day as of Friday afternoon. Despite Ravi Teja's strong mass following, the numbers have yet to cross the Rs 1 crore mark.

Clash and limited shows impact opening

Reason for a lower reception is speculated to be due to the release of SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali: The Epic', which clashed with the Ravi Teja starrer on October 31.

Additionally, 'Mass Jathara' makers have also announced that the film will be released on Friday evening, rather than the standard early morning shows typical for big Telugu releases, which might as well lead to low figures. With most theatres only able to screen two or three shows on opening day, compared to the usual five, the film's potential earnings have taken an early hit.

'Mass Jathara' is said to be a full-fledged entertainer which includes the actor's signature mass style, humour and action-packed moments. The movie is directed by Bhanu Bhogavarapu, making his directorial debut. The film stars Ravi Teja as a railway officer who takes on rival gangs and corruption. The film stars Sreeleela as the female lead, marking their second collaboration together after 'Dhamaka'.The film is set to release with paid premieres on October 31 and will be later released on November 1.
