Massive crowds filled Revolution Square and other central streets of Tehran on Wednesday as thousands gathered for the funeral of Ali Larijani, Iran’s top national security chief, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike.
Video footage widely shared on social media showed thousands of mourners lining the streets.
Larijani, a key figure in Tehran’s strategic leadership, was killed in a strike carried out by the US and Israel, Iranian authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
The attack also reportedly killed Gholamreza Soleimani, commander of Iran’s Basij forces.
