Massive fire breaks out at a slum area near Rithala metro station in Delhi
NEW DELHI: A major fire broke out in a slum area near Rithala Metro Station late on Friday night, leaving a child injured, officials said. The incident occurred in the Bengali Basti locality, situated between Rithala Metro Station and the Delhi Jal Board premises.
Fire tenders were present at the spot, and efforts to douse the flames continued for several hours before the fire was brought under control. According to Fire officer S K Dua said the blaze, categorised as a medium-level fire due to its intensity, required the deployment of 29 fire tenders. “A total of 29 fire tenders were sent to the site, and the fire has now been brought under control. One child was injured and taken to hospital by ambulance. No further casualties have been reported so far,” he said.
