Medical student from Bengaluru found dead in hostel in Shivamogga

A medical student was found dead at her hostel room in Shivamogga on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Vishnu Priya, 22, a student of Subbaiah Medical College in the city.

The student, a native of Bengaluru, was doing her internship as part of her bachelor’s degree, and she was about to complete it in a couple of weeks.

Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s relatives, Shivamogga Rural police registered a case of unnatural death.

Her parents were said to be out of the country, and are expected to reach Shivamogga on Tuesday. The police suspected that she ended her life on Sunday night. She was alone in the room, as her roommates already left the hostel a few days ago.

The hostel staff informed the police about the incident on Monday around 11 a.m.
