Meet Ozzy, the dog with the longest tongue!

Ozzy, a French and Bullmastiff mix from Oklahoma, has officially broken the Guinness World Record for the longest dog tongue, measuring an astonishing 7.83 inches. This impressive appendage surpasses previous canine records and even human records. Despite its extraordinary length, veterinarians confirm Ozzy is medically healthy, and his owners describe him as a playful, albeit sometimes lazy, furry family member.

2025 is about to wrap, and guess who has turned out to be the biggest winner? Ozzy, a French and Bullmastiff mix, has broken the Guinness World Record with his tongue. He currently holds the world record for the dog with the longest tongue — a tongue that’s bigger than a candy cane!

Who is Ozzy?

Ozzy is a ‘good boy’ and the perfect furry friend of the Pick family from Oklahoma, US.

A playful dog, Ozzy has an unusually long tongue measuring 7.83 in (19.89 cm). With his long appendage, Ozzy has defeated the prior record holder, Rocky, the dog from Bloomington, Illinois. Rocky had a 5 in (12.7 cm) tongue. In fact, Ozzy also managed to break the human records held by Chanel Tapper (USA; 3.8 in, 9.75 cm) and Nick Stoeberl (USA; 3.97 in, 10.1 cm) for the longest tongue on a female and male.

A holiday miracle

Good boy Ozzy has always had a tongue that sticks out of his mouth.

His owner, Angela Pick, recently brought the cutie in for a routine nail trim, and the veterinarians noticed the unusually long tongue. They measured it, and the rest is, well, history. “He has always had a tongue that sticks out of his mouth, ever since he was born,” Angela told Guinness World Records. Though his tongue is long, Ozzy is medically well. “But there’s nothing medically wrong with him. We’ve had him looked at a couple of times by a veterinarian, and there’s no dental issues or anything – it’s just abnormally, awkwardly long!” The family has had Ozzy ever since he was a puppy. They saw his tongue growing along with his paws.

Though he has a long tongue, he hardly uses it for sloppy kisses. “It’s funny, for his tongue to be the way that it is, he doesn’t really lick a whole lot. He doesn’t give kisses – he gets in your face and kind of loves and rubs noses, but he doesn’t really lick on a lot of stuff!” she said. Ozzy is the best of both worlds, just like the mix he is. You will find him being a couch potato, and the next moment, he will be hyperactive. “He’s extremely lazy, but he’s very active at the same time, which is crazy. He goes outside and hops around like a kangaroo. He’s very playful when he knows he’s supposed to. Sometimes he doesn’t know his size, but he knows that he can’t tackle us either because he’s bigger than us!”
