Former Minister and chairman of Hassan Cooperative Milk Producers’ Society Union H.D. Revanna has said that the mega dairy being constructed at a cost of over ₹790 crore will be inaugurated by March 2026.
The union was contemplating inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inaugural ceremony.
Addressing the union’s annual general meeting in Hassan on Monday, Mr. Revanna said the mega dairy, being constructed at the KIADB industrial area on the outskirts of Hassan, would help improve the Hassan dairy. As of now, the union had been performing better than most of the dairies in the State.
The dairies, he said, could utilise up to 2% of the earnings for administrative expenses. However, the Hassan union had been utilising only 1.69% of the earnings for administrative expenses. However, Bengaluru federation had been utilising up to 4.49% for the administrative purposes.
The former Minister said that the Hassan dairy had 240 vacancies. There had been no recruitment for the past seven or eight years. However, the staff had been managing the dairy very well, he said.
“When I became the chairman of the union in 1994 for the first time, the annual turnover was only ₹4 crore. Now, the turnover stands at ₹3,000 crore”, he said.
