Seven people died when a small private jet attempting an emergency landing crashed in San Mateo Atenco, Mexico, Monday, striking a business rooftop and causing a major fire that led to mass evacuations.The plane had departed from Acapulco and was headed to Toluca airport, located about 31 miles west of Mexico City, when the incident occurred. The crash site was in an industrial area approximately three miles from the airport.Mexico State Civil Protection Coordinator Adrian Hernandez reported the aircraft was carrying eight passengers and two crew members, though only seven bodies have been recovered hours after the crash.The plane attempted to land on a soccer field but instead hit a metal roof of a nearby business, triggering a significant fire."The fire forced the evacuation of some 130 people in the area," San Mateo Atenco Mayor Ana Muniz told Milenio Television.
