The disruption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) supply on Monday (November 17, 2025) affected vehicles across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) after damage to GAIL’s main gas pipeline. Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) expects restoration of gas supply by November 18.
The damage to the main gas supply pipeline of GAIL occurred at the RCF premises, Trombay, and also affected the gas supply at MGL’s City Gate Station (CGS) at Wadala since Sunday (November 16, 2025), MGL said.
According to MGL, out of the total 389 CNG stations, 225 CNG stations are operating, and the rest are facing a shortage.
“MGL is ensuring supply to its domestic (Piped Natural Gas) consumers on priority without interruption. However, due to the stoppage of gas supply in CGS Wadala and thereby the MGL pipeline network, a few CNG stations in Mumbai, Thane & Navi Mumbai are not operational,” MGL added.
In the statement, MGL highlighted that the gas supplies across the network will normalise once the damage is rectified and supply is restored to CGS Wadala. “The rectification work is in progress, and the restoration of gas supply is expected by November 18,” MGL said.
