What began as a long and painful family dispute ended in a shocking act of violence on a public road in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where an 82-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his own son shortly after winning a court battle over his property.
According to NDTV, the victim, Jafar Qamaruddin Sayyed Patel, a retired employee of the Water Resources Department, had spent nearly two years fighting a legal case to regain possession of his house from his son, Abdul Rehman Abdul Jafar.
The relationship between father and son had deteriorated over time due to the son’s alleged abusive behavior.
Determined to reclaim his property, Patel approached the court seeking his son’s eviction. After a prolonged legal battle, the court ruled in favor of the elderly father and ordered that ownership and possession of the house be restored to him.
However, what should have been a moment of relief turned into a tragedy.
According to the report, Patel was returning home from court with the eviction order when his son allegedly intercepted the autorickshaw in which he was travelling. In a violent outburst, Abdul Rehman is accused of stopping the vehicle and attacking his father with a knife in broad daylight.
The elderly man suffered fatal injuries and died in full public view on the road.
