Minister for Transport, Youth Services, and Sports, Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, on Friday said that farmers in the Rayachoti constituency of Annamayya district would benefit from the State government’s renewed push to expedite phase-I works of the Handri–Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) project’s main canal.
The Minister, who called on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in the Assembly, submitted a representation seeking the early completion of the Srinivasapuram–Mandipalli Nagireddy stretch of the canal.
Mr. Ramprasad Reddy said the project, with construction works worth ₹450 crore, is expected to provide irrigation water to nearly 25,000 acres across Rayachoti, Chinnamandem, and Sambepalli mandals, besides significantly contributing to groundwater recharge in the rain-shadow region.
He added that Mr. Naidu had assured him that tenders for the works would be floated in the coming days and construction would begin soon.
