Animal welfare activists and care providers in the city met on Sunday to discuss misconceptions among the public on the recent Supreme Court order related to the feeding of stray dogs.
The meeting was organised by People For Animals (PFA) in Mysuru, to dispel misconceptions, including the thought that the court had imposed penalties of ₹25,000 on individuals and ₹2 lakh on organisations for feeding stray dogs.
The activists clarified that these fines apply only to parties seeking to implead in the case, not to those feeding stray dogs responsibly. The group said that feeding activities remain lawful when carried out in accordance with guidelines.
Discussions were also held on identifying designated feeding spots to reduce conflicts and improve coordination with local authorities. The care providers also averred their commitment to lawful animal welfare and constructive cooperation with civic bodies in the city.
