Berhampur: In the absence of a burn care unit at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, authorities have alerted eye, surgery, plastic surgery, orthopaedic and ENT departments to admit patients in case of a burn injury during Diwali.“The emergency department is functioning round-the-clock to treat emergency cases. Doctors of surgery, plastic surgery have been alerted to deal with such patients,” said Durga Madhab Satapathy, superintendent, MKCG.“If the flow of patients is more, they will intimate the heads of departments for more doctors and para-medical staff to attend to burn victims,” he added.Since there is no separate burn unit to treat victims, they will take admission in the surgery and plastic surgery wards, depending on the nature of injury. “We think there will be no problem in providing treatment to burn patients with 30% burn injuries,” Satapathy said.
