In a move aimed at improving urban connectivity and easing traffic congestion, the Kalaburagi city is set to get four satellite bus stations on its outskirts. The proposal gained momentum following a recent meeting in Bengaluru, chaired by District In-charge Minister and Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, as well as IT & BT, Priyank Kharge, who discussed infrastructure upgrades for the region with senior officials.

As a follow-up to the meeting, Kalaburagi South MLA Allamprabhu Patil and Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRRTC) Chairman Arun Kumar Patil, along with senior officials, jointly inspected potential sites across four directions of the city for establishing the proposed satellite bus stations.

The team visited locations near the Aland check post at Kotnoor, the Humnabad Road, and the Sedam Road adjacent to Gulbarga University. Officials examined plots measuring around two to three acres each, which were found suitable for constructing modern and well-equipped bus terminals.

Among those who accompanied the inspection team were Gulbarga University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shashikant Udikeri, officers from the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, and other officials from the Agriculture Department and KKRRTC.

According to officials, two to three potential plots have already been identified, and a formal proposal will soon be submitted to the concerned departments for approval and further action.

Speaking after the inspection, Allamprabhu Patil, MLA, said the proposed satellite bus stations would play a crucial role in accelerating Kalaburagi’s development, providing better transit facilities for commuters and decongesting the city’s main bus terminus.

KKRRTC Managing Director B. Susheela, along with other senior officials from the Transport, Agriculture, and Animal Husbandry Departments, were also present.
