Complainant Manpreet Singh, a resident of Aerocity, stated that he married Gurpreet, a Delhi resident, in Nov 2025. He alleged that relations turned sour soon after the wedding, with frequent disputes.
Mohali: A case of cheating and criminal conspiracy has been registered by Mohali police against a woman and her family following a complaint by her husband, after an inquiry by the Women’s Cell and legal clearance from the DSP and District Attorney.
The FIR was lodged on the directions of the SSP.The accused include Gurpreet Kaur, her father Joginder Singh Lamba, mother Jaswinder Kaur Lamba, brother Inderpreet Singh and one Rajiv Kumar.Complainant Manpreet Singh, a resident of Aerocity, stated that he married Gurpreet, a Delhi resident, in Nov 2025. He alleged that relations turned sour soon after the wedding, with frequent disputes. According to him, Gurpreet, in connivance with her family, took control of his gold jewellery and cash before leaving for Delhi and failing to return despite repeated requests.Manpreet further claimed that his own inquiry revealed that several documents submitted by his wife—including her birth certificate, Aadhaar, passport and PAN—were allegedly forged, suggesting fraudulent intent behind the marriage.Following the Women’s Cell probe, police registered the case. Officials said the investigation is underway and further action will depend on evidence collected.
