Normal life has been thrown out of gear in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam district under the impact of Montha cyclone which is expected to cross the coast near Kakinada by Tuesday evening (October 28, 2025). Most people remained indoors with the fear of the cyclonic storm which had already caused damage to standing crops and roads which were already in bad shape in routes including Bobbili-Parvathipuram and other routes.
The district received 47.7 mm rainfall since Monday (October 27, 2025). All 27 mandals of the district got excess rainfall under the impact of Montha cyclone. Minister for MSME Kondapalli Srinivas and Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy have been monitoring the situation from the control room set up in the Collector’s office. According to them, the district administration is geared up to handle possible floods as all reservoirs including Madduvalasa, Andhra and others have been receiving huge inflows with the continuous rains in their respective catchment areas.

Special Officer of Srikakulam District K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu, in-charge Collector Farman Ahmad Khan told media that the situation was under control all along the sea coast in spite of heavy rains. According to them, Gotta barrage constructed on Vamsadhara river received 10,500 cusecs of water and 10,815 cusecs had been discharged from the barrage on Tuesday morning (October 28, 2025).
