Vishnu Vishal, known for his memorable and impactful performances in movies like ‘Kaadan’, ‘Ratsasan’ and ‘Gatta Kusthi’. He believes that acting goes far beyond dialogue delivery, the actor shared his thoughts on the physical side of performance with the example of Rajinikanth, the way his body, especially their hands, can speak volumes when words fall short.
He make Rajinikant his inspiration.
Learning from Rajinikanth’s physical expressiveness
In a recent chat with Sudhir Srinivasan, Vishnu spoke passionately about Rajinikanth’s unique use of hand gestures. He explained that the superstar’s movements bring energy and rhythm to his screen presence, often amplifying emotions and style at once. “Rajinikanth places his hands above his shoulders, especially in close-up shots. More than his face, it is his hands that are always doing something.
Now, that is very difficult to do,” Vishnu observed. He further reflected on how seamlessly Rajinikanth blends emotion with motion. “It took me time to realise that this is what Rajinikanth has been doing for years and that too without making it awkward,” Vishnu said, admiring the natural flow in Rajinikanth’s performances. He cited the 1995 cult classic ‘Baashha’ as an example, where the star’s hand movements intensified a crying scene’s emotion.
“That is very difficult to do, because the hands are doing fast movements but what he shows on his face is very emotional.
This is something that I have been learning over a period of time,” he added.
