The second trailer for 'Mortal Kombat II' has finally landed, teasing an even bloodier tournament with everything on the line for Earthrealm. Karl Urban returns as Johnny Cage, forced back into the fight against the ruthless Shao Kahn. Fan-favorite warriors Kitana and Jade enter the arena, hinting at explosive battles, iconic moves, and the franchise’s signature fatalities.
The world of ‘Mortal Kombat’ is all set and ready to return with the second installment’s release. The official trailer for the upcoming film has officially been shared online, and fans cannot seem to get enough of all of the action-packed and gory themes that have been promised from the first look.
‘Mortal Kombat II’ trailer released
The first trailer, which had been released on October 16, 2025, had already managed to get the excitement going amongst the masses. The second trailer’s arrival, however, is bringing things up a notch. The film shows the return of the iconic Johnny Cage, who is played by famed actor Karl Urban. The trailer itself starts with Cage sitting at a Comic Con event table, as he watches all of the other celebrities around him get surrounded by fans, while his table remains empty.The trailer shows that the tournament is back on; however, this time around, the stakes are higher. Johnny Cage is pulled back into the supernatural world after Earth’s fate is threatened. New faces also arrive as Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, and Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn all join the franchise. Joe Taslim, who played the role of Noob Saibot in the first film, also makes his big return to the film franchise.
The trailer continues and shows that the villanous emperor Shao Kahn is claiming his right on the Earthrealm, and it is upto the champions from Earth to fight back and save their home before its too late.
Premise of ‘Mortal Kombat’
The ‘Mortal Kombat’ film franchise is a martial arts fantasy series, which was created based on the popular video game of the same name. It centers around people from all realms getting selected to play in the Mortal Kombat, which is a high-stakes, interdimensional fighting tournament.
The film series, so far, has released 6 films, with the first one, ‘Mortal Kombat: The Journey Begins’ released in 1995.The last film, ‘Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match’, was released in 2023, and is set in the 1980s as action star and martial artist Johnny Cage tries to find his way back to films.
When will ‘Mortal Kombat II’ release
May is going to be a jam-packed month for Karl Urban. The star’s hit film, ‘Mortal Kombat II’, is all set and ready to hit theatres worldwide on May 8 this year. Not only that, but the actor’s award-winning OTT series, ‘The Boys’, will also be returning for its final run. The show will air on May 20 and will see the return of Urban, as well as Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, and many others.
