Nandyal MP Byreddy Shabari on Tuesday (October 14, 2025) strongly objected to the removal of sheds of some temples near the Nandyal railway station by the railway police late on Monday night (October 13). She directed the officials to restore the sheds and took exception to the action at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Nandyal district.

Railway police reportedly removed the sheds of Vinayaka temple, Nagulakatta Sri Valli Sameta Subramanya Swamy, Sri Venkateswara and other small temples on the road leading to Nandyal railway station from Nunepalli. Locals from Mulasagaram, Nunepalli, Sai Baba Nagar, MS Nagar and other nearby areas visited these temples.

Narayana, a government teacher, along with his friends used to celebrate major festivals in the shed and also organised “annaprasadam” for passersby and devotees during festivals. According to reports, the railway police, on the instructions of a senior official of Nanydal railway division, removed the sheds late on Monday night and when Mr. Narayana tried to intervene, he was taken into custody.

Residents of Mulasagaram, Nunepalli and nearby areas along with Hindu organisations gathered at the temple and raised objection over removal of sheds, which they claimed were not causing any obstruction to vehicular movement. Rashtriya Dharm Raksha Dal Nandyal district president N.P. Naveen Goud and others informed Ms. Shabari, who took up the issue with the senior railway officials.
