A man in Bhopal died of a heart attack when his eight-year-old son got briefly stuck in an elevator during a power outage. The child stepped out of the elevator safely.

In a tragic incident, a man died of a heart attack after his eight-year-old son briefly got stuck inside an elevator in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal. The incident happened on May 26 at a residential society in the city.

According to the details, the child had boarded the elevator in the Nirupam Society. As his floor was approaching, the elevator got stuck due to a power cut.

The man, later identified as Rishi Bhatnagar, panicked over his child getting stuck in the elevator.

It was suspected he suffered a heart attack and was rushed to a hospital immediately, where the doctors declared him dead.

Meanwhile, the child stepped out of the elevator safely after the electricity was restored in nearly three minutes.

Commenting on the matter, Bhopal Station House Officer (SHO) Manish Raj Singh said, “On May 26, information was received that a person named Rishi Bhatnagar was brought to the hospital, who was declared dead."

“He lives in Nirupam Society, at 10 pm he had asked his child to go home, the child was going in the lift when the lights went out," he said.

“Rishi Bhatnagar got worried that his child might have got stuck in the lift. Due to which he suffered a heart attack out of panic, the child is safe," the SHO said.

In another similar incident, a minor boy was trapped inside an elevator at a high-rise society in Ghaziabad’s Kaushambi on Monday.

The elevator was stuck after the boy randomly pressed multiple buttons and attempted the open the door of the lift forcibly while it was moving.

The incident was caught on CCTV, showing the child screaming and crying for help.

He was later rescued after a technician operated the lift.
