Multiple Delhi schools receive bomb threats; students, staff evacuated

NEW DELHI: Several schools in the Delhi received bomb threat calls on Saturday, prompting evacuations and large-scale security checks, news agency ANI reported. According to police, Delhi Public School (DPS) Dwarka, Krishna Model Public School and Sarvodaya Vidyalaya were among those targeted.Bomb squads and police teams were rushed to the campuses, and students and staff were evacuated as a precaution.

Searches are still under way. The alerts follow a similar security scare at the Delhi High Court just eight days ago, when an email warned of a blast inside a judge’s chamber. The message, sent from an account in the name of Kanimozhi Thevidiya, alleged links to Pakistan’s ISI, referred to Coimbatore-based “cells”, and claimed a plot to “recreate the 1998 blasts”. It also carried incendiary language about Indian politics, threatening violence against family members of political leaders and suggesting a plan to “reshape leadership”. No explosives were found after thorough checks at the high court. Police are investigating both the school threats and the earlier email, with security officials treating them as part of a wider probe.
