A 23-year-old woman in Dehradun allegedly died by suicide after reportedly struggling to clear the NEET examination, leaving behind a note for her parents that read, “Mummy-Papa, I love you.”

The woman was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her room at a house in Chandramani Colony under the Patel Nagar area. Police reached the spot after being informed and sent the body for post-mortem examination.

According to police, a suicide note recovered from the scene contained the emotional message addressed to her parents. Preliminary investigation suggests the woman had been preparing for the NEET examination for a long time with hopes of pursuing a career in medicine.

Officials said she had failed to secure selection in previous attempts and was reportedly under stress and disappointment. Sadar Circle Officer Ankit Kandari confirmed that a suicide note was recovered from the scene.

Police are examining the note and other evidence. While the case prima facie appears to be a suicide, authorities said further action will depend on the findings of the post-mortem report and the ongoing investigation.
