District Collector Sumit Kumar on Wednesday directed municipal commissioners of Chittoor Corporation, Kuppam, Palamaner, Punganur, and Nagari municipalities to ensure 100% door-to-door garbage collection across all wards.
Addressing the municipal commissioners, the Collector emphasised the importance of sanitation and civic infrastructure. He instructed the civic officials to obtain waste collection reports signed by the sanitary inspectors of the respective wards. Additionally, he ordered the removal of unauthorised posters and publicity material from government properties and public places.
Focusing on fiscal responsibility, Mr. Sumit Kumar called for effective property tax collection for the financial year 2024–25 and directed officials to submit detailed plans for 2025–26.
With the monsoon approaching, he cautioned the municipal health wing officials to be vigilant against outbreaks of waterborne diseases. He directed them to undertake sanitation drives in areas prone to mosquitoes. The Collector also spoke on maintaining the street lights, garbage bins, and drainage systems.
He advised people to drink chlorinated water during the rainy season, and manadated periodical cleaning of overhead water tanks in all civic bodies.
