Following overnight rains in Hyderabad on Monday (August 11, 2025), Hyderabad’s traffic police on Tuesday (August 12) issued an advisory informing citizens about the closing the Chaderghat causeway due to the overflow of the Musi River. Commuters have been asked to use the Chaderghat Bridge or Golnaka Bridge as alternative routes until water levels recede.

Authorities said the closure was necessary after heavy rains caused a surge in the river’s flow, making the causeway unsafe for travel

Meanwhile, the Cyberabad traffic police noted that the water discharge from Himayat Sagar has increased, with five gates now open. Earlier, Four gates of the reservoir have been opened to release excess water into the Musi river as inflows in the lake from the catchment area continues. However, continued heavy rainfall forced the opening of another. As a result, the Cyberabad Traffic Police have urged travellers from Shamshabad to Gachibowli via the service road, and those making the return journey, to use alternative routes.

Vehicles travelling from Shamshabad to Gachibowli are now required to take a right turn at Exit 17 towards Budvel, proceeding via Kismatpur and the Telangana Police Academy. Motorists heading from Gachibowli to Shamshabad via the service road must instead use the Kismatpur route through Aramghar.
