Nagula Chavithi holds a great religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. This day is considered an auspicious day. This day is celebrated to honor Nag Devtas (Serpent Gods) and he festival is mainly observed by married women for the longevity and well being o their children.

The festival is mainly celebrated in Andhra Pradesh and also in some parts of Karntaka. The festival is celebrated on Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Kartik. This year, Nagula Chavithi will be celebrated on October 25, 2025.

Nagula Chavithi is one of the major festival which is celebrated in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

The day is mainly dedicated to worship Nag Devta and women observe strict fast on this auspicious day for the well being of their children and pray to the serpent Gods. Nagas are already associated with all the Gods, such as Lord Shiva carries Naga Vasuki, and Mansa Devi (Naga Mata) is also the daughter of Lord Shiva. Lord Vishnu rests on Shesha Naga. In Hinduism, Naga or serpent also represents kundalini energy that symbolizes spiritual power, transformation and spiritual awakening.

Nagas represents both protection and hidden wisdom and are considered as the guardian of sacred places or pilgrimage sites.The festival of Nagula Chavithi is mainly celebrated in South India. On this sacred day, devotees worship Naga Devta by following various puja rituals. Women observe fast and seek blessings of Naga Devtas by offering them traditional food, showing their gratitude and performing puja. According to the astrology, Nagas or snake represents Rahu and Ketu planet.

Rahu is the head part of the snake and tail is associated with Ketu.Snakes are considered beneficial in rural regions, especially in agricultural sector. Snakes usually come out of their burrows in the winter and consume the rats that destroy crops. Because snakes are essential to maintaining the soil's fertility for agriculture, people worship them. Snakes also eliminate dangerous microorganisms in fresh water.

1. Before beginning puja rites, get up early and take a holy bath.2. If you choose to install an altar, you must clean the house and the puja area.3. On a piece of paper, draw a picture of Naga Devta and place it where the altar is.4. Light incense sticks and diya with desi ghee.5. Offer flowers and homemade sweets like laddoos, which are baked with rice flour and jaggery.6. Puja is performed by offering cow's milk, kumkum, haldi or turmeric, bananas, and thamboolam which is mixture of betel leaves and betel nuts and rice flour plays a significant role in the puja ceremony.
