BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagenthran on Wednesday (August 13, 2025) urged Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to take immediate steps to repair or replace damaged electric poles in view of the approaching monsoon season.

In a statement, Mr. Nagenthran referred to an incident in Tambaram in which a 35-year-old man was electrocuted after coming in contact with a live wire from an electric pole. “Due to the negligence of the DMK government, an innocent life has been lost. Before this inhumane regime comes to an end, how many more lives will Tamil Nadu have to sacrifice,” he asked.

He claimed that fatalities caused by poorly maintained electric poles have increased in the State over the past four years and such untimely deaths due to government negligence could no longer be tolerated. He also urged the government to provide ₹25 lakh as compensation to the family of the deceased.
