Two 112 teams, equipped with inputs from the Command Centre, helped rescue an unconscious man in Banashankari and an elderly woman in distress near M.G. Road in separate instances recently.
On Wednesday, an unknown person reported an elderly woman in distress at Lido Mall on M.G. Road, in the Halasuru Police Station limits. The caller informed Namma 112, following which assistant sub-inspector A. Rathod and constable Harish of Hoysala-29 were alerted.
The officers reached the spot in nine minutes, where they found a homeless woman, aged around 80, wandering without clothes. The officers provided her with clothes and food before enrolling her in an old-age home for care and rehabilitation, said the police.
In another incident on Tuesday morning, an unidentified passer-by noticed a man lying unconscious on Kaveri Nagar Road in Banashankari 2nd Stage and alerted the emergency helpline Namma 112.
The Command Centre dispatched assistant sub-inspector K.H. Gowda and constable Umesh, who were patrolling in Hoysala-148 of the Banashankari Police Station.
The duo reached the spot within 11 minutes and shifted the man to Victoria Hospital for urgent medical attention, a statement released by the city police said.
After treatment, the police traced his family and sent him home safely.
The police said that the geolocation-enabled dispatch system and quick protocols implemented under the Safe City Project were helping the police execute such operations swiftly. The police urged citizens to use the Namma 112 helpline to report emergencies, noting that their identity would not be disclosed and that timely intervention can be ensured.
