Dhyan Chand’s father was a hockey player and served in the British Army. He, too, followed his father’s footsteps and enrolled in the British Army at the age of 16. In addition to that, he started playing hockey and later joined the Indian Army Team. (File Photo)

He debuted for the Indian Army Team in 1926 when they toured New Zealand for a series. India dominated the series winning 18 matches on the tour with 2 draws and 1 loss. From there, he never looked back and ascended to greatness. (File Photo)
