The Oklahoma City Thunder finally blinked.
The West-leading Thunder slumped to just their third loss of the season, falling 112-107 to the Minnesota Timberwolves after a late Anthony Edwards dagger on Friday night.
Even a monster 35-point night from MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander couldn’t save OKC, who have now lost two of their last three after looking near-invincible.
Edwards stole the show, piling up 26 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and two blocks, before drilling a cold-blooded 24-foot step-back three with 40 seconds left to flip the game. The Thunder had been ahead moments earlier.
“We had the lead late — they just made a couple more plays than we did," said Thunder coach Mark Daigneault.
The defeat leaves Oklahoma City at 25-3, days after their NBA Cup semi-final exit to San Antonio, and cools talk of a historic 73-win chase.
Elsewhere in the League
The Spurs steamrolled the Hawks 126-98, with Victor Wembanyama dazzling off the bench. Limited to 21 minutes, the 7-foot-4 phenom still posted 26 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and two blocks, highlighted by a jaw-dropping one-handed alley-oop. The win lifts San Antonio to 20-7 and third in the West.
Wembanyama also hit a rare milestone: 100 straight games with at least one block, joining only Dikembe Mutombo and Patrick Ewing in NBA history.
In New York, the Knicks’ seven-game win streak ended in a 116-107 loss to the 76ers, as Tyrese Maxey starred with 30 points. Meanwhile, the Celtics beat the Heat 129-116, with Jaylen Brown scoring 30 for the sixth straight game.
