YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders have accused the NDA government in the State of resorting to vendetta politics.
“The ‘red nook’ rule has started with Chandragiri constituency,” alleges YSRCP president of the undivided Chittoor district unit and former MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy.
Addressing a constituency-level meeting at Chandragiri on Tuesday, he referred to the incident in which a car belonging to the YSRCP leader had allegedly been torched soon after the general elections in 2024.
He also referred to the ‘red book’, which TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh (now HRD Minister) had extensively referred to during his Yuvagalam walkathon. Mr. Lokesh had allegedly said he would note down the names of his targets in the ‘red book’ and initiate action against them after the change of guard.
The meeting was convened to discuss the party’s preparedness to observe ‘betrayal day’ on June 4 following a call given by party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to commemorate the first one year of the NDA government as a “year of treachery.”
Mr. Karunakar Reddy said the government had done nothing beyond inaugurating the projects completed by the erstwhile YSRCP dispensation. He also accused the government of encouraging land mafia, sand mining, liquor syndicate.
Chandragiri Assembly segment in-charge Chevireddy Mohith Reddy recalled that it was in Chandragiri that Mr. Lokesh had promised a monthly allowance of ₹3,000 to the unemployed, which remained unfulfilled.
Chittoor parliamentary constituency observer C. Rajasekhar Reddy was present.
