The Telangana Road Transport Authority officials on Friday penalised owners of more than 245 vehicles across the State for various violations and seized 180 vehicles.
According to an official statement, 40 of the seized vehicles were found to be overloaded. The remaining vehicles were plying on the roads allegedly without valid fitness certificates, and documents connected to road tax, permits, or other mandatory documents. The department also warned that strict action would be taken against errant drivers and vehicle owners. RTA officials said that apart from seizing overloaded vehicles, the driving licence of the concerned driver will be cancelled. In case of repeated violations, the vehicle’s permit will also be revoked.
Officials reiterated that the ongoing enforcement drive was part of a State-wide effort to keep a check on unsafe and illegal operations on the roads and to ensure public safety.
