TDP MP from Vijayawada Kesineni Sivanath submitted a representation to Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw on December 18, stressing the need to prepare an integrated plan for transport management and a road-rail satellite terminal that would divert the rail as well as road traffic to reduce the pressure on Vijayawada station.
Mr. Sivanath noted that there were open lands, which could be easily acquired for the stated purpose, while pointing out that the area was going to be connected to the major roadways/airways, and to the upcoming new Amaravati line. Therefore, it was essential to develop a railway station as a halt / satellite station to Vijayawada station, he observed.
Mr. Sivanath said, keeping it in view, Mr. Vaishnaw should call for a feasibility report, along with DPR, to direct joint inspection with the departments concerned so that the facility would make transportation and logistics a lot more convenient.
