Hundreds of vehicle drivers are facing severe ordeals due to the poor condition of the road between Srikakulam and Amadalavalasa towns. The stretch, badly damaged by incessant rains, has turned driving into a nightmare even for experienced motorists.
With potholes dotting the entire 15 km route, vehicle movement has slowed to a crawl, and travel now takes nearly 35 minutes. “Night travel on this road is even more dangerous, as waterlogging often conceals the potholes. Unless officials immediately take up repairs, accidents are bound to increase,” said A. Ramana, a resident of Amadalavalasa.
The issue, which became a political flashpoint during the 2024 elections, has since been neglected. CPI(M) Srikakulam district secretary D. Govinda Rao alleged that all political parties ignored road development once the polls were over.
