GURGAON: A Nepali-origin suspect involved in drugging and robbing homeowners in India, along with other Nepali workers in Indian households, was apprehended following a confrontation with police in sector 53.The accused Jagat Bahadur suffered a bullet injury and is undergoing treatment in the civil hospital here.Inspector Narendra, heading the Crime Branch Sector-43, received an information on Wednesday about Jagat Bahadur, a 35-year-old of Nepal, implicated in multiple serious crimes and planning another act near Tau Devi Lal Park, Wazirabad.
Upon receiving the information, Inspector Narendra alerted the seniors and a team was formed to nab the suspect.Cops located the suspect near Tau Devi Lal Park, Sector-53.The suspect fired directly at the police vehicle, prompting the officers to respond with warning shots. When the suspect persisted in firing, the police shot him in the leg.Jagat Bahadur was subsequently taken to the government hospital in Sector-10, for treatment.During the incident, a total of six rounds were discharged—four by Jagat Bahadur and two by the police.
The police recovered a pistol, a live cartridge, a bag containing a metal cutter, pliers, a screwdriver and six bullet shells from the scene.Investigations revealed that Jagat Bahadur utilised Facebook under a false name to befriend Nepali youths employed in Indian households. He would then travel to India by bus under a fake identity, collaborate with his Facebook-connected accomplices to drug homeowners, rob them, and return to Nepal via taxi with the stolen goods.Last year Bahadur and his accomplices executed a similar theft valued at around Rs 2 crore in Mumbai.Jagat Bahadur was previously detained by Nepal police on July 14, along with his female accomplice Babita, for selling stolen goods from India.After being released from Nepal jail on August 9, he returned to India on August 11.He holds a criminal record including one case in Gurgaon, one in Punjab, two in Uttarakhand, one in Nepal for selling stolen goods and another in Mumbai.A case has been registered against Jagat Bahadur for obstructing government work and attempting to murder for firing at the police team under relevant sections of the BNS and Arms Act at Sector-53 police station, Gurgaon.Jagat Bahadur is currently undergoing treatment at the government hospital in Sector-10 and will be arrested upon discharge.
