Ranchi: Tour operators have witnessed cancellations of bookings for Kathmandu, Pokhara, and trekking routes across Himalayas in Nepal.Tour and Travel Agency Association of Jharkhand said around 4,000 travellers were expected to visit Nepal this year.
A 25-member group has cancelled its booking, said a travel operator.President of the Tour and Travel Agency Association of Jharkhand, Amardeep Sahay, said, “The situation is extremely challenging. Occupancy rates at popular hotels have dropped, while advance bookings for the upcoming festive and trekking season are being withdrawn. This is leading to huge losses.”Sidhgora resident Baburam Thapa said, “We planned to visit Nepal during Durga Puja vacations, but have to rethink now.”Manoj Midha of Upper Bazaar who visited Nepal in the first week of September said, “We travelled by road and the journey from Kathmandu to Pokhara went smoothly. We decided to return when we learnt about the situation.”
