Netravali man arrested for live wire fence

Canacona: The forest department staffers in Netravali have arrested Gurudas Kuskekar of Haldikune, Netravali, for using electrocution to kill animals along the Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary.The accused had created a direct electric connection from the main 11kV power line passing through his property by attaching a hook, a method that previously led to the death of two brothers at Quepem.The trap was discovered during a routine patrol by the forest staff. Had the officials on patrol duty not been alert, they could have been fatally injured, said a forest official.The department has registered an offence under the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.Kuskekar was produced before a court, said the forest official.
