HasanAbi denies doxing allegations and calls it clout chasing

Twitch star Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker has denied accusations of doxing, asserting that his commentary was taken out of context in these instances. The controversy began when a clip was shared on social media showing Hasan naming names of political commentators while talking about campaign finance disclosures.

Where did the controversy begin?

On September 2, 2025, that clip from HasanAbi's Just Chatting stream started circulating on X. The streamer was seen reacting to a video by YouTuber BadEmpanada, who alleged that followers of Steven "Destiny" Bonnell were paying into Progressive Victory, a PAC.While going over the claims, HasanAbi proceeded to name Dillon Burns, Hunter Avallone, Hutch, and others associated with Destiny. He also referenced a post purportedly by BadEmpanada with donation data related to the PAC.

The clip spread like wildfire, with some accusing HasanAbi of doxing by publicly amplifying private details about political commentators during his stream.

HasanAbi responds: “Never been doxing”

On September 5, three days later, user @Awk20000 shared a follow-up video wherein HasanAbi addressed the accusations directly. In the clip, HasanAbi rejected the claims as part of a “stupid de-platforming initiative” against him. He said that he was looking at the information from Federal Election Commission filings which are public records. Following that, HasanAbi explained: "Stupid de-platforming initiative, claiming that I was actually doxing people looking at the FEC filings, myself included, because I have looked at my own FEC filings as well on this broadcast, which is publicly available data, that actually doesn't show the full identity or the full f**king addresses of people...

is not doxing. Never been doxing."He further said that FEC records will not reveal the full identity or personal address of anyone that can endanger them, so trying to call that doxing is stretching the truth.

Public data or doxing: The debate

The incident has opened a broader debate online about where one draws the line between publicly available data and doxing. Moreover, although FEC filing is legally accessible to anyone and serves the purpose of transparency in campaign financing, critics argue that bringing this to the attention of super-sized platforms risks exposing those individuals to harassment.

Community reactions

The on-the-ground situation has led to at least a divided public reaction, yet there are headaches for all sides. Some house the streamers in sympathy, averring against what they both perceive to be undue persecution of HasanAbi. While others feel that large-audience streamers should exercise greater prudence in airing personal or financial matters.Despite this, HasanAbi claims to have seen the charges as clout chasing, neither more nor less than an effort to generate drama, thereby taking away his political commentary cred. It remains to be tested whether this situation will blossom further or simply fade away as yet another quickly dissolved internet controversy. For the moment, HasanAbi is holding his ground, reiterating that reviewing public FEC filings on stream cannot be equated with doxing.Through all that debate, the incident has only served to highlight another ongoing tension in online balkanizing halls of negotiation, wherein often the distinction between transparency, accountability, and privacy gets blurred.
