A new photograph of Delhi suicide bomber, Dr Umar Un Nabi, has surfaced online, showing him in a doctor’s attire. Umar previously worked as an Assistant Professor at the Al-Falah Medical College in Haryana’s Faridabad and was driving the car that exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10.

At least 13 people were killed and dozens were injured when a high-intensity blast went off near the Red Fort metro station in New Delhi on Monday, a day after a massive, pan-India terror network involving doctors and recovering 2,900 kilograms of explosives and ammunition.

On the day of the explosion, CCTV footage had captured a man matching Umar’s description walking near Asaf Ali Road, not far from the site of the blast. A few hours later, a car loaded with explosives, later linked to the attack, was spotted near Connaught Place, with reports showing Umar behind the wheel.

The white Hyundai i20 car was identified as the main explosive-laden vehicle, and Umar became the chief suspect. During the site search, police found human remains, pieces of metal, and other items scattered within a 50-metre radius due to the blast’s intensity. Among these was a piece of maroon cloth found on a tree, matching the colour of the shirt Nabi had been wearing, as seen in CCTV footage.

On Thursday morning, DNA results confirmed the match, and investigators concluded that Umar Nabi was the one driving the car that detonated outside the Red Fort. Several of his acquaintances were taken into custody from Faridabad’s Al-Falah Medical College over alleged links to the Jaish-e-Mohammad terror group.

On Thursday night, security forces demolished Dr Umar Nabi’s house in Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has collected the DNA samples of his mother. Her samples have been sent to the AIIMS forensic laboratory for further investigation, the sources added.
