Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Kwatra Thursday inaugurated the country’s new Consulate General premises in Seattle.
Washington State Governor Bob Ferguson, US Senator Maria Cantwell and Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell were present at the event.
Addressing political leaders and the Indian American community, Ferguson welcomed the opening of the new Indian consulate as a landmark development, especially in deepening bilateral ties between India and the US Pacific Northwest region.
The announcement for the 6th Indian Consulate in US was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2023.
