New water pipeline in Baga to improve supply to 120 homes

Calangute: To improve water supply in the Suntavaddo area, a new connection to the water distribution pipeline was recently completed by the Calangute panchayat. A panchayat member said the pipeline will resolve the long-standing water scarcity issue affecting around 100-120 houses in the Baga parking and fishing jetty areas.Meanwhile, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said treated sewage water from the sewerage treatment plant (STP) at Baga is proposed to be supplied to hotels in Calangute for gardening. “We have planned for a pipeline with treated water from the STP, which hotels can use for gardening. Currently, hotels are buying tanker water for gardening,” he said.“A new treatment plant is also coming at the STP and the water will be completely clean. We don’t want to release the treated water into the Baga river. We are looking at taking this pipeline up to the Taj in Sinquerim. I want to complete this before the end of my term,” Lobo said.
