Newborn with missing fingers found abandoned in Sathya Sai district

A three-day-old baby girl was found abandoned by unidentified persons near Kalasamudram village at Kadiri Rural mandal in Sri Sathya Sai district, on Wednesday.

According to the police, some locals heard the cries of a child from the bushes at the roadside in the village, and after finding the baby, they informed the Kadiri police. A police team, along with officials of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), rushed to the spot and rescued the child, who was immediately shifted to the Kadiri Government Hospital for medical care.

Doctors said that the newborn was currently stable and healthy. However, during a medical examination, it was found that the baby had a congenital disorder with four of her fingers on the left hand missing.

The Kadiri police registered a case and launched an investigation to trace those responsible for the act.
