The Edmonton Oilers have placed goaltender Tristan Jarry on injured reserve, the NHL club announced Friday. This decision came after the player suffered a lower-body injury during a game against the Boston Bruins on Thursday night.
In replacement of Jarry, the Oilers have decided to recall Connor Ingram from the AHL to serve as the club’s backup. As per reports, Jarry was seen leaving after Edmonton's 3-1 win at Boston on Thursday, after he slid quickly from his left to right trying to make a save. This move comes one week after he was acquired along with forward Sam Poulin from the Penguins in a move that sent goalie Stuart Skinner, defenceman Brett Kulak, and a 2029 second-round pick to Pittsburgh.
Connor Ingram to replace Tristan Jarry as Oilers place him on injured reserve following a lower-body injury
The Oilers have recently recalled goaltender Connor Ingram from the American Hockey League's Bakersfield Condors to back up Calvin Pickard, who stopped all 12 shots he saw in relief on Thursday. He will fill in the gap for Tristan Jarry, who is away from the team due to his injury and has been placed on injury reserve by the NHL team.Reports suggest that Jarry is a two-time all-star, who has won all three of his starts with Edmonton since the trade, though he has a 3.08 goals-against average and an .887 save percentage over that span.
Besides, Jarry entered the contest with a .905 save percentage and 2.77 GAA through 16 games split between the two teams this season.
Is Tristan Jarry the fix for the Oilers?
Jarry left Thursday’s game against Boston midway through the second period and was replaced by Calvin Pickard. The lower-body injury occurred when Jarry tried to push his leg across the crease and came up slowly after the move. Meanwhile, head coach Kris Knoblauch didn’t have an update after the game, but Pickard told Sportsnet’s Gene Principe about the injury that “It didn’t look good.”As for Ingram’s stats, he was acquired in a trade from the Utah Mammoth in early October after being waived. The 28-year-old has struggled with the Bakersfield Condors in the AHL, registering a 4.04 goals-against average with a .856 save percentage in 11 games played. According to reports, Ingram went 9-8-4 with a 3.27 goals-against average and an .882 save percentage in 22 games with Utah last season. Also read: NHL Player Update: Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin undergoes successful ACL tear surgery, return remains uncertain | NHL News - The Times of India
