NIA officials accompanied by police and other security personnel conduct raid at a house in Wasseypur in Dhanbad district on Tuesday
Dhanbad: Tension gripped Wasseypur on Tuesday morning after the National Investigation Agency (NIA), with the assistance of Bank More police, carried out a surprise raid at the residence of one Shahbaz Ansari near Jabbar Masjid.
The sudden action created panic in the locality, drawing attention from the residents and sparking intense discussions in the area.According to the police, the raid was conducted following suspicions of illegal financial dealings and unaccounted transactions. During the search, officials reportedly discovered a large amount of cash from Ansari’s residence. To ascertain the exact figure, investigators brought in special cash-counting machines and began the counting process inside Ansari’s house.
However, no official statement has been released either by the NIA or the local police, so far, regarding the total amount.Investigators have also seized several documents, electronic gadgets, and banking records from the house. Technical experts are assisting the team in tracing the origin of the recovered money and verifying whether it is linked to any larger criminal network or unlawful business activities.
Sources suggested that Ansari has alleged connections with land dealings in the region, raising further questions about the legitimacy of his income. To ensure smooth proceedings, additional police forces were deployed around the site, and the area was cordoned off to prevent crowding as a large number of locals gathered outside the house to witness the raid. Security personnel restricted media access, and reporters were not allowed inside the premises during the operation.Residents of Wasseypur expressed shock over the incident, noting that Shahbaz Ansari is a well-known figure in the locality. The raid, they said, has created a wave of panic among several business families. Some locals speculated that the case may have wider implications given Wasseypur’s past association with crime networks.By late evening, the NIA team concluded the search, and officials left with bundles of seized cash, along with files and electronic devices, for further scrutiny.Dhanbad SSP Prabhat Kumar confirmed the raid but declined to provide further details. “The NIA was in Wasseypur for a specific operation, and necessary procedures were followed,” he said.
