Nick Mangold, the New York Jets' All-Pro center, passed away at the age of 41 on Saturday night after suffering from complications of chronic kidney disease. Just days before his passing, Mangold had publicly requested a kidney donor via his social media account.
On October 26, the team announced his passing, news that profoundly affected the entire NFL community. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Richmond, and their four children—two sons, Matthew and Thomas; and two daughters, Eloise and Charlotte.
Nick Mangold and his wife, Jennifer Richmond, were high school sweethearts
Mangold met Jennifer in Centerville, Ohio—where they were high school sweethearts. The couple got married in April 2007. Jennifer stayed out of the public eye for most parts of Mangold’s NFL career. He rarely posted photos with her on social media. There were only two prominent ones shared on Instagram. One from the COVID-19 pandemic and the other from their 2023 trip to Italy.
Although Mangold frequently shared pictures of his kids, Jennifer maintained a low public profile.
The seven-time Pro Bowler built “quaran-tree” with his wife and kids
On April 26, 2020, Mangold shared an Instagram post with the caption—“We decided to plant a “quaran-tree” so that hopefully in 20 years our kids will look back on this time with fond memories and not the craziness it actually was. #quarantree.” The IG post included two photos: the first was a selfie taken by Mangold, showing him with his wife and four kids, the second captured all four kids with the newly planted tree during quarantine.
Family time in Italy
On October 25, 2023, Mangold posted nine pictures on Instagram from his family trip to Italy. The first photo was a selfie featuring his wife, Jennifer, while the other eight were from the iconic locations throughout Italy. The Jets legend captioned them: “Most amazing week in Italy. From the big city of Roma to the small town of Città Della Pieve we saw it all. Amazing accommodations at @hoteldelavillerome and @hotel_vannucci made us feel like home as we were away.

The Jets' star player supposedly had his last family vacation in Mexico
On January 3, 2025, Nick Mangold posted eight Instagram photos from his family's New Year vacation in Mexico. There were no selfies or family pictures, just mesmerizing views of the city.
