Nitin visits Puducherry ahead of assembly polls

Patna: In a move widely seen as the party’s strong focus on the south, BJP’s national working president Nitin Nabin visited Puducherry, where assembly elections are scheduled next year, on a two-day visit on Saturday.Nitin, who is a five-time MLA, is the first national working president of the BJP from Bihar, party officials said.Soon after landing in Puducherry, he held a meeting with BJP’s state core committee to review organisational preparedness and strengthen outreach efforts, a press statement issued by the party said on Saturday. He also addressed a Shaktikendra Sammelan and interacted with professionals.“His first visit after being appointed as the BJP’s national working president is to Puducherry, underscoring the party’s strong focus on South India,” a BJP statement said on Saturday.

He arrived via Chennai, where he was accorded a rousing welcome at Chennai airport by a large number of BJP workers along with Tamil Nadu state BJP president Nainar Nagendran.In his address, Nitin called upon party workers to make South India a “stronghold” of the BJP, strengthen the party’s presence across the region, and take development forward. “The discussions focused on organisational expansion, booth-level preparedness, and enhancing outreach among different sections of society to further consolidate the party’s base,” the party said.

Highlighting the BJP’s broader vision, Nitin emphasised that the BJP is committed to firmly consolidating its presence in South India and aims to ensure the formation of BJP-led NDA govts in the upcoming elections. He underlined the party’s focus on promoting development, good governance, and inclusive growth across the region under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, while strengthening organisational structures at every level.He expressed confidence in the collective efforts and dedication of party workers, acknowledging their crucial role in mobilising support and reaching out to the people. He thanked the workers for their commitment and active participation in advancing the party’s mission.
