KDMC potholes repair works through VC strict warning issued

KALYAN: In view of the increasing inconvenience faced by citizens due to potholes on roads in Kalyan-Dombivli, the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has accelerated the pace of road repair and pothole-filling work.

The problem has worsened after the recent spell of heavy rains, as many previously repaired roads once again developed potholes, creating serious difficulties for daily commuters. On Friday, Municipal Commissioner Abhinav Goel conducted a virtual conference (VC) with engineers and contractors from all divisions of the corporation. During this meeting, he carried out a division-wise review of the ongoing road repair and pothole-filling activities across the Kalyan-Dombivli region. The Commissioner issued clear and strict instructions that, keeping the upcoming Ganeshotsav festival in mind, the municipal staff and contractors must ensure that the maximum number of potholes are repaired within the next five days. He emphasized that all available resources – including machinery, equipment, and manpower – must be deployed on priority. The work should not be limited only to daytime; instead, repair activities must continue both during the day as well as at night.

In particular, areas with heavy traffic and high public movement should be given preference, and road work in such zones should be carried out during night hours to minimize disruption to citizens.During the review, Commissioner Goyal also delivered a stern warning. He made it clear that if any untoward incident or mishap occurs due to potholes on the roads, the responsible contractor will be blacklisted by the municipal corporation.

He categorically stated that no negligence will be tolerated and no contractor will be spared if citizens’ lives are put at risk because of poor-quality road work. The Commissioner’s directions highlight the urgency of the situation, as the Ganesh festival is one of the biggest celebrations in the city, drawing large crowds and heavy vehicular movement. Ensuring smooth and safe roads has therefore become a top priority for the civic body. With the municipal administration now moving into action mode, citizens of Kalyan and Dombivli are expecting quick and visible improvements in road conditions over the coming days.
