World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen demonstrated his mastery with a decisive endgame victory against India’s No. 2 Arjun Erigaisi. The Norwegian grandmaster, having lost two Armageddon games in previous rounds, made a resounding statement with this win on home soil.
In the match between World Champion Dommaraju Gukesh and World No. 3 Fabiano Caruana, the American held a significant advantage for most of the game, possessing several winning opportunities. However, Caruana was unable to capitalise due to Gukesh’s remarkable defensive play. Gukesh subsequently won the Armageddon game convincingly.
The encounter between World No. 2 Hikaru Nakamura and Chinese star Wei Yi culminated in a hard-fought draw in the classical game. Wei Yi ultimately secured victory in the Armageddon tiebreaks, claiming the valuable extra points.

The Norway Chess Women’s tournament witnessed another thrilling day, with newcomer Sarasadat Khademalsharieh securing a decisive victory against Tingjie Lei. This marked her first win at Norway Chess, achieved through a compelling attacking display.
The remaining two games, Anna Muzychuk versus Vaishali Rameshbabu, and World Champion Wenjun Ju versus Humpy Koneru, were decided in Armageddon, highlighting the fierce competition where every point is critical. Vaishali Rameshbabu and Wenjun Ju emerged victorious in their respective Armageddon games, earning crucial extra points.
